Why KOSINTA/THE PROPOSAL ?
In Aruba, Dutch Caribbean in 1991 was organized a magnificent international theatre festival and
A big meeting also. Theatre Fiasko was participating in that festival with a circus play directed by Pirkko Kurikka. Nämä of the play was Laterna Magica/Oiva Moksin taikalyhty and that show was mentioned as “highlightnan of the festival” (the same year the same show was invited to the program of Dundalk International Theatre Festival in Ireland).

Teatteri Fiasko, Kosinta, 2019ram of closing ceremonies was performed Chekhov´s The Proposal by a French group.
The performers were small and little puffy, elegant outfits from 1950, stylish costumes. The performance was highly artistic and charming. The memory of that show has remained in my mind all these years. And 28 years later the memory was powerful, that we had start warking with this small one act comedy or “vaudeville” as the writer has called.
The previous play in Fiasko´s history was The Servant of two Masters by Carlo Goldoni, a classic commedia dell´arte. We got classes of commedia dell´arte acting, we learnt a lot, slowly, not all and not fully correctly, but it was amazing to learn so much and in light and joyful way. The coach
To commedia dell´arte is Tiia-Mari Mäkinen from London. Her commedia dell´arte studies happened in Italy in courses of Antonio Fava. This experience gave us direction to move forward also with this new comedy The Proposal.
In the play there are 3 characters, 2 male and 1 female. Fiasko-group was devided into 3 groups:
Father, daughter, Suitor. The play itself was devided into three parts. In beginning there is a short stand up …..then purvurang according the ancient Indian theatre theory Natya Shastra (here in western world we might call it as prolog, but there are differences…)
